Shall We Dance (July - August 2010)

Joan Quinlan, a dance teacher, owns "Shall We Dance", a dance class for social ballroom dance. Since I have been in her classes for a little over a year, it came up that she She got a family member to design the site, and then I continued with what he created, continuing to develop the site. This included changing the color scheme, adding new information, and some other edits.

While working at the Cole Harbour C@P Site, I was able to schedule appointments with Joan in order to gain feedback from her about what she felt needed to be changed, as well as any comments and concerns she had. This was at the same time as I was providing her with lessons on computer use.

The site now runs Joomla, both for its powerful creation tools, as well as the ability for Joan to be able to edit the content herself.

Cole Harbour Harvest Festival (April 2008 - Present)

The Cole Harbour Harvest Festival is an annual community festival. Its first year was in 2008, so everything had to be created from scratch, including a website. The site itself was created by Natural Flow Designs, but I continued from there, doing the mainenance, and adding new pages and items as necessary.

Cole Harbour C@P Site (June - August 2010)

I worked at the Cole Harbour C@P Site in the summers of 2009 and 2010. One project that I decided to undertake in 2010 was the redesign of the website. The problem I faced was the lack of people skilled in web design enough to successfully edit the web page, for things such as adding pages, changing content, and adding news. A solution was needed that would allow anyone with the proper credentials to edit the page.

The solution I decided on was a program called "Joomla!". It is a full content management system (CMS), that will allow anyone from the C@P Site to edit the page. This program was complimented by a customized template, and the C@P Sites own (updated) content. The move was also done to Google Apps for Domains, which now provides the email, calendar, and documents applications for the site.
